Well, before I shutter this blog altogether in my move to wordpress I thought I would post a series of blogs about our trip to the Lacamas dog trial.
Currently, we are on the road, having left at 9:30, a little later than we hoped but enroute, never the less.

I have been puting these kennel off for a while now. Finally, I have had enough of the muddy dogs.and what's more 5 dogs just seems like a lot of hair. So I have knuckled down and this is how far I am so far.

Meet Gus

Sorry pal, it's minus 12 outside.  Gus is a 10 month old Kelpie, I hope he works out for me but as many of you know if he doesn't. . . . . . . . . . . . .well I just will not blog about him any more.  Gus was delivered to me Via Louanne's dad from Texas.  Alas it is not quite as warm here as it was in Ft Worth.  It's :http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/76102  But it is Sunny.

Happenings @ the No Chicken Ranch

There have been some developments at our place that , while not earth shattering, deserve some notice.  First:

I have finished the Kennel.  I got this kennel for a a pretty good price and while I needed to spend some time to get it up and ready, I still need to install the mid-support uprights.  Unfortunately for me the place I got the first batch of do dad's is out of the pieces I need.  It is sufficiently secure to hold Jed, however, not the Aussies.

The Dog House . . .is pretty Gucci as Dog houses go. . .It is heated, has 2 inches of foam insulation and vinyl siding.  I won this at the Red Deer CKC Dog show 2 years ago.  I think that Jed will settle in here pretty nicely.

The second development is that we have a bit of a shot gun wedding taking place.  

Meet Lassie. . .She is a 2 year old Black and Tan Kelpie owned George Walker.  He left her here while he went to Australia in the hopes of breeding her to Jed.  Thus far, there are no signs she is coming into heat, so this might just turn out to be a boarding situation.

She Doesn't seem to mind, however and is settling in nicely to life at the No Chicken Ranch. . . .

Settling In. . . .

Happily as the settling in process moves along and the reno drags on and on  . . .there are some finding the adjustment easier than others -

Unfortunately for the dogs Winter is also settling in.  This morning it was a balmy -32 at my house and it's not expected to get any better for some time yet.  All of this leads to dogs with a severe case of Cabin Fever.  However, the silver lining to the in-climate weather is that I am forced to put nose firmly to grindstone and get and make some progress on the inside renovation.  I can't wait until spring and a new giant list is created for outside renovations and landscape reform.  There will, however, be a vegetable garden.
